We are delighted to announce the start of the public review period for
the following proposed standard extension to the RISC-V ISA:
Svnapot - Naturally Aligned Power of Two Pages

The review period begins today, Thursday Sept 16, and ends on Sunday
Oct 31 (inclusive).

This extension is part of the Privileged Specification.

This extension is described in the PDF spec available at:
https://github.com/riscv/virtual-memory/blob/main/specs/628-Svnapot.pdf

To respond to the public review, please either email comments to the
public isa-dev mailing list or add issues to the Virtual Memory GitHub
repo: https://github.com/riscv/virtual-memory. We welcome all input
and appreciate your time and effort in helping us by reviewing the
specification.

During the public review period, corrections, comments, and
suggestions, will be gathered for review by the Virtual Memory Task
Group. Any minor corrections and/or uncontroversial changes will be
incorporated into the specification. Any remaining issues or proposed
changes will be addressed in the public review summary report. If
there are no issues that require incompatible changes to the public
review specification, the Privileged ISA Committee will recommend the
updated specifications be approved and ratified by the RISC-V
Technical Steering Committee and the RISC-V Board of Directors.

Thanks to all the contributors for all their hard work.

Kind Regards,
Stephano

I don’t see it in here:

Volume II: RISC-V Privileged Architectures V20210915-Public-Review-draft

Am I looking in the right doc?

I’m guessing that’s a different version or branch:

Following that link you should see the chapter on pg 83.

This is a full privileged spec.  What is being reviewed?  Just chapter 5?  Are there additional changes in other chapters that are part of the review?  Sv57 is in this spec (section 4.6) but not part of the 1.12 public review spec so is Sv57 part of Svnapot or not?

Thanks,

-Paul

For Svnapot, just chapter 5.  Sv57 is considered part of "Priv 1.12" (aka Ss1p12 or Ss1-12) and not a separate extension (hence why it is in the Supervisor-Level chapter).

Wow. This is so confusing for a casual observer.
Maybe a casual observer should not be here...?

Comments:
  • There are also changes to things outside chapter 5, notably the description of bit 63 in the PTE for Sv37 and Sv48.  This is a backwards-compatible change so I'm not objecting, just pointing out that changes are not entirely in chapter 5.
  • The Svnapot extension refers to Sv57 which is not part of any other existing or proposed spec (other than this spec where we are to ignore it).  This reference should be removed since Sv57 is not proposed to be in v1.12 of the supervisor spec.

Thanks,

-Paul

The inclusion of the small PR for Sv57 into the Priv 1.12 spec fell into a crack and didn't get merged in before the spec was frozen.  This is probably going to be rectified by starting a separate public review for Sv57 in the coming week.
