Recently I have made a new custom extension providing avr8/PRU like IO instructions.

Designated for accessing peripheral registers in microcontrollers.

It targets the static code size, dynamic instruction count as well as register pressure.

The encodings are currently temporary until instruction set stabilizes.

There are also some tooling issues to resolve.
