Dear RISC-V Community, open source enthusiasts, and others

We got a lot of good feedback and interest with the first version of Pulpino. Today we are ready to share a major patch to the RISC-V toolchain that will allow all extensions in PULPino to be used as well many upgrades to the PULPino core itself. Here is what is new:

  • A patch to the original RISC-V toolchain that will allow you to build the PULP toolchain that supports all extensions we have added to the RISC-V core including

    • Vector ALU instructions

    • Hardware loops

    • Post increment load/store instructions

  • Full support for the RV32IMC instruction set (now also divisions)

  • New DSP extensions that allow operations on 4 bytes or 2 halfwords in parallel, including:

    • Dot product operations:

E.g. C[31:0] = A[15:0]*B[15:0] +A[31:16]*B[31:16]

  • Improved Debug support

    • You can debug applications running on the PULPino from Eclipse using a GDB interface

    • Memory-mapped-input-output (MMIO) debugging

Stay tuned, there is still more to come. More information on the current and future releases will be announced on:
