Here is the pre-ballot for SC-87, which improves the requirements surrounding the inclusion of values in the serialNumber attribute. Absent any discussion or changes, I plan to start the discussion period next week.

Purpose of Ballot

There have been varying interpretations of the EV Guidelines on the inclusion of values in the serialNumber attribute. This ballot explicitly specifies how to encode Registration Numbers, Dates of Formation, and other values in the serialNumber attribute. Additionally, the ballot mandates a standard encoding for date values encoded within this attribute.

 

The following motion has been proposed by Corey Bonnell (DigiCert) and endorsed by Ben Wilson (Mozilla) and Dimitris Zacharopoulos (HARICA).
