Atlantia, we need to talk.
When an event site is marked as Dry or Wet, that means that you cannot have any alcohol whatsoever at the site (Dry) or you are allowed to have alcohol at the site (Wet).
If you take alcohol to a site that is Dry, you are seriously endangering our relationship with, and our ability to use, that site.
Good sites that are affordable are getting harder and harder to come by.
We recently had an event at a Dry site, and in the late afternoon, someone discovered tucked behind a small concrete wall next to the fighting area some partially empty cases of beer. If the site owner had come across it, we could very well have been forced off the site right that moment, regardless of the feast being cooked, the activities going on, and the court about to happen soon. Imagine being the cause of an event shutting down suddenly and people having to leave to find somewhere else to sleep that night, lots of cooked food going to waste, and planned activities that people have worked hard on not being able to happen.
Because someone felt they couldn’t go 1 day without drinking a beer, we could have lost a site that we have used for years.
Dry means Dry. Period. Do not bring alcohol to a Dry site. Sites are always marked on the event flyer as to whether they are Wet or Dry, so there is no excuse for not knowing. I will be working with the Calendar Deputy to make sure that the site status is very clearly and obviously marked, and with the Exchequer’s office to ensure that information is readily available at Gate as well.
I am instructing the Branch Seneschals that if anyone, and I do mean ANYONE, is found in possession of alcohol at a Dry site, they are to be removed from that site IMMEDIATELY and that information referred to my office, where sanctions will be issued.
This is non-negotiable. I don’t care who it is that violates that rule, they will be kicked off site and it will be a while before they can attend an event again.
Just don’t.
Cian, Kingdom Seneschal.
