Happy New Year IFers!

I'm delighted to report two substantial milestones for IF were passed over the festive break.

1) Impact Framework graduated!

In December we raised a motion to upgrade the status of Impact Framework out of incubation, and the motion passed without objection. This means we now consider IF to have graduated. We are delighted to have gotten the project past this significant milestone!

This does also coincide with some changes to how the project is run. IF no longer has a full-time dedicated development team. Since the codebase has ossified to a large extent, development will be limited to maintenance and bug fixes unless we see clear and unambiguous demand for certain changes from the community. This does not prevent open source developers continuing to build plugins, pipelines or even changes to IF itself. I will continue to be responsible for stewarding the project. but expect my focus to be onboarding, integrations and driving adoption.

2) We cut our v1.0 release!

To coincide with graduation, we cut our v1.0 release! We consider this to be our first production release. We'll endeavour to be backwards compatible and avoid breaking changes for the foreseeable future, enabling users to build tooling and integrations confident that IF is a stable building block.

We're very proud to have shipped this and look forward to helping you all build on top of IF in 2025!

Very soon we'll coordinate some comms about these milestones to spread the news more widely on other platforms.

We'll also be releasing some new IF learning materials in the coming weeks.

Keep in touch here and on the IF Github, as always!

Cheers

Joseph
