Hi new listserv members,
I'm excited to revitalize the use of this list and get a larger audience involved. It can serve as a really fast way to get information out and to seek resources from like-minded food system folks. I also love the listservs I'm on because of the "search" function. You can search past conversations to glean info you might need.
To use the listserv, you just type the email address for the group, which is
gffcli...@greaterfranklinfoodcouncil.org into the "to" bar in a new email. Then you write your email, hit send, and your message goes to the 32 members and counting on this list! One quick thing to remember, when you reply to an email in this group, the reply also goes to the whole group. If you want to reply just to the sender of an email, you need to edit the "to" bar before you hit your reply.
I'll send out an email or two to get some messages in your inbox to see how it can work and get good info out to our listserv!
Here are the guidelines that you probably saw when you joined the group:
Welcome to the Greater Franklin County Food Council Listserv. This email exchange is essentially a bulletin board for anything related to our food system that is relevant to share to a larger audience. The emphasis is on topics related to community farming, food, and nutrition topics, food justice, local food enterprise, public health, food security, etc. Postings may include events,
resources, jobs / internships / volunteer opportunities, area-related media publications or news stories, webinars / Zooms / podcasts, funding opportunities, etc. Commercial businesses are allowed to post food related announcements, and local farms are especially encouraged to use the listserv. While not primarily a discussion forum, exchanges on relevant topics are allowable.
A few guidelines to follow:
When replying to a post on the listserv, the default is to reply to the whole listserv. To reply to a specific individual or author of a post, you will need to copy and paste their email address into the email address field.
Your email should clearly identify who you are as the author. An email signature with your name and organization or town where you live is preferable. Posts where the author is not clearly identified will be removed.
Personal attacks, ridicule, harsh or uncivil language or profanity are not allowed on the GFFC listserv.
