As of this evening our total species tally for Saturday's Waterloo Rec
Area CBC stands at a respectable 64 species. Two species added to the 62
we tallied Saturday evening were a Swamp Sparrow on Linda Ar's list and
a Common Grackle reported by one of the feeder watchers. The House Wren
mention Saturday, was a mis-marked Winter Wren. Still a good bird as it
was the only one reported. Highlights for the day were a Snow Goose on
Gilletts Lake, Golden Eagle and Northern Shrike on Dalton Road, Snow
Buntings, White-crowned Sparrows and a Lincoln's Sparrow. We recorded
record highs for 4 species; Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk,
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and Brown Creeper. More details when I get a
blog entry written for the JAS website.
