Instead of focusing on proven wildfire resilience, such as prescribed burns, community preparedness, and investments in Forest Service staff and local firefighting tailored to regions, this bill would make it easier for industrial logging interests to profit
from our public lands while silencing communities and reducing transparency.
Our National Forests in Michigan — the Huron-Manistee, Hiawatha, and Ottawa — are special. And they are essential for clean air and water, wildlife habitat, and carbon storage. Weakening oversight and accountability with FOFA, on top of all of the harmful
rollbacks from the Trump Administration, will put these resources, and nearby communities, at greater risk.
