Proposals Sought for Plans to Address Nonpoint Source Pollution
Michigan’s Nonpoint Source (NPS) Program anticipates about $275,600 of Federal Clean Water Act Section 604(b) funds will be available to develop new or update existing watershed management plans. A Request For Proposals (RFP) has been posted to the Michigan Nonpoint Source Program webpage (www.michigan.gov/nps) which includes details about grant requirements and links to the forms instructions. Funded projects must result in a watershed management plan approvable under Federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) criteria. All Michigan watersheds are eligible. Regional and local planning entities, local units of government, nonprofit organizations, and private colleges and private universities are eligible to apply. Proposals must include a minimum of 10% local match and include proof of a recent successful financial audit. The minimum funding request is $25,000 in grant funds. The maximum request is the full available amount. Applications are due Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and we anticipate announcing awards early next year.
A webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am to explain the FY 2025 NPS Program funding for watershed planning projects and proposal requirements. NPS staff will discuss the grant application schedule, program priorities, eligibility criteria, application requirements, tips for successful applications, and answer your questions.
