Good morning, apologies for cross-posting.

Are you feeling outrage, angst, and powerlessness in the face of Trump's power grab? Lift your spirits by joining together with advocates and activities to make it clear that these early actions by the Trump administration are unacceptable and out of step with Michigan values.

The Climate Action Campaign and many state and local advocates are gathering at the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation on Saturday, February 15th from noon - 2pm.

There will be local food, music, and speakers that will speak to the impacts of these actions and lay out ways to organize and cut through the noise with elected officials. And there will be opportunities for some collective advocacy and for sponsoring groups to bring forward different calls to action.

Please consider attending, and we need your help in promoting the rally. To RSVP, fill out the Mobilize Link and share with your networks to boost attendance.

Hope to see you in southwest Detroit on February 15th!

Detroit Climate Can't Wait Rally

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, February 15, 2025

Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Location: Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, 1211 Trumbull, Detroit, MI 48216

Audience: Community leaders, environmental advocates, labor organizations, local residents, and policymakers.

Why This Matters:

This is a rally to demand people-first policies over profits.

The climate crisis demands urgent action, but instead the Trump Administration is ending standards and programs that protect our health. They are also doing everything they can to prop up the dirty fossil fuel industry – the same corporations that are causing extreme record-breaking storms, flood, drought, and wildfire, and air pollution.

Trump and his allies are quickly turning to their next phase: taking actions that will slash the social safety net and environmental health programs, and doing all they can to protect polluters and doing favors for the fossil fuel industry and other ultra-rich corporations.

As Michiganders that find this unacceptable, we must make our voices heard. The Feb. 15th rally will unite advocates, community leaders, and policymakers to stand firm against rollbacks to federal climate and health initiatives, and send a strong signal that we want affordable, reliable clean energy, and less toxic pollution in our air and water.

Goals:

  • Mobilize broad support for strong climate policies and clean energy solutions.

  • Oppose harmful rollbacks that threaten public health and environmental protections.

  • Highlight the impact of climate change and toxic pollution on frontline communities.

  • Generate media attention and digital engagement to amplify our message.

  • Find ways to support each other in the advocacy community, provide inspiration, and learn about tangible ways to take action and organize together

RSVP HERE! Together, we can defend progress and build a just, sustainable future!
