Village Care of King. She was born February 6, 1930 in Wilkes County to
the late Osa Lee Wyatt Handy and Clarence Eugene Handy. Mrs. Ayers
retired from Sara Lee Corporation with 24 years of service. She was a
member of Kingswood United Methodist. Mrs. Ayers was a wonderful wife,
special mother, grandmother, and sister. She was loved by all who knew
her and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers
was preceded in death by four brothers: Franklin, Bobby, Claude, and
Clarence Handy, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years,
Paul H. Ayers; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Ayers Stanberry (Randy); three
grandsons: Brian Stanberry (Sarah), Dustin Stanberry (Ashley), and Randy
Stanberry, Jr. (Megan); one great-grandson, Declan Reid Stanberry;
three sisters: Marie George (Bill), Helen Hayes (Eddie), and Barbara
Anderson (Charles); and four brothers: Ralph Handy (Arlene), Grady Handy
(Rachel), Jerry Handy (Jo), and Dean Handy (Pat). A funeral service
will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 1 at Hayworth-Miller Rural
Hall Chapel with the Rev. R. Sidney Lanier and Pat Mabe officiating.
Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 31 at the funeral home. Online
