Hi,

I am evaluating Golaem to possibly use in a project. I have a scene set up in Maya for arnold render (Maya 2017) that I exported to 2016.5 to be able to use Golaem Crowd. I render single frames fine, and I have set the simulation to -1 start frame to have it start before my batch render starts, but I end up with render completed at first frame. I get this in the renderlog:
Warning: int $interactive = 1; // for Flag -interactive

Warning: "C:\Users\biXen\AppData\Local\Temp\ASTB9BB17320.tmp" line 9.21 : Redeclaration of variable "$interactive" shadows previous declaration at line 7. Previous value will be overwritten by explicit initializer.
glmPreRenderCallbackMentalRay();
Warning: file: F:/Autodesk/Maya2016.5/scripts/others/mayaBatchRenderProcedure.mel line 604: Renderer returned an error while rendering 'defaultRenderLayer', please verify the output image.
glmPostRenderCallbackMentalRay();
Scene F:/3D Work/Bussvei Previz/Maya/Station Project/scenes/sideview_elevated_crowd_working.0001__14548.mb completed.

Anyone have an idea how to fix it?

(all the scene and render setup check stuff in Golaem checks all green)

Hi Kristian,

Does the rendering works in the Maya interactive session ?
Can you send the complete MayaRenderLog File for the batch render session ?

Thanks,

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for getting back to me. If I render frame by frame just using "Render current frame" everything works fine. I did notice a render layer error in the log now though (bolded in log), could this be some conflict with the way Golaem is doing things? Take a look at the entire log:

Hi,

Thanks for the log.
Can you disable the Golaem Simulation Cache Proxy node (Entities should not appear anymore in the viewport) and launch the Batch Render again ?
Just to check if the rendering failure is indeed relative to Golaem

Best,

Hi Nicolas,

You are right, the batch render doesn't work at all. I think I may have installed the Maya service pack after installing Mental Ray, I will try to reinstall mental ray and maybe that will fix something. I'll report back my progress.

After reinstalling Mental ray, removing preferences for Maya 2016.5 and 2016 and repairing both it worked AFTER I batch rendered in 2016 first. Luckily someone else put me on that path. Well done Autodesk :\

Solved though, scene is rendering, thanks :)
