Subject: Maya + V-Ray error - black render
Attachment: http://golaem.com/sites/default/files/webform/Capture_0.JPG
Details:
Hello!

We are using Golaem 7.3.8, Maya 2020.4 and VRay 5.00.22.
I was setting up a Maya scene with our own characters and animations,
everything was working fine until I hit render. The render appears black or
it doesn't even start. At first I thought it was because of our characters so
I created a new scene with the the ones in Golaem Pack. It happened the same.
I made some reaserch and I read in your documentations that with Vray 5 you
have to install it manually. However the plugin is already in
./procedurals/vray/compatibility/ folder with the correct name. Besides I ran
the Scene Check Test and everything seems working.

Here is what is written in the Script Editor:

glmPreRenderCallbackVRay();
glmPostRenderLayerCallbackVRay();
glmPreRenderLayerCallbackVRay();
createVRSceneFromProxy frame range 1-200
// Error: V-Ray : Exception [module=1] : Compiling geometry //
glmPostRenderLayerCallbackVRay();
glmPostRenderCallbackVRay();

Thank you,
Ariadna

Hey Ariadna,

See inlined below

Golaem 7.3.8 supports by default Vray 4.X
You can check automatically supported versions in the Release Notes:

We provide a Vray 5 plugin in the compatibility folder but there are some manual steps which are required on this plugin to make it available in Golaem
Those manual steps are described here:
You need to copy the library from the compat folder in the main folder and rename the library accordingly
Having it with the compat folder with the version name within it is not sufficient

Can you please double check that you've done all those steps, relaunch Maya and render again

Please let us know how it goes
Best,

Here is what is written in the Script Editor:

glmPreRenderCallbackVRay();
glmPostRenderLayerCallbackVRay();
glmPreRenderLayerCallbackVRay();
createVRSceneFromProxy frame range 1-200
// Error: V-Ray : Exception [module=1] : Compiling geometry //
glmPostRenderLayerCallbackVRay();
glmPostRenderCallbackVRay();

Thank you,
Ariadna

Okey! It was that! hahaha I am sorry for this silliness, I should have copy and paste and not just read the name of the file.
Thank you for your help,
Ariadna
