A. Potential Updates to Columbia Bicycle Compatibility Map
A. Request from Councilperson Ian Thomas:
1. Review and evaluate MoDOT's policy of not marking a crosswalk or installing ped. signals unless there is an ADA-accessible sidewalk at both ends of the crosswalk;
2. Judge whether MoDOT's policy adds to or detracts from the safety of pedestrians and people in wheelchairs, and whether it is consistent with the NACTO Urban Street Design Guide, http://nacto.org/usdg/intersection-design-elements/crosswalks-and-crossings/, which the City of Columbia uses;
3. Consider and comment on the impact of this policy in the specific example of the intersection of Stadium and Old Hwy 63, which MoDOT has deemed ineligible for marked crosswalks and ped. signals on the south and east legs;
4. Write a report and recommendations to City Council, as to whether we should ask MoDOT to abandon this policy.
5. Include any other information the Commission feel is pertinent.
B. Recommend BPC representative for the Pedestrian Safety Task Force
