CDBG and HOME Pre-Application Workshop
March 2nd, City Hall, Room 1A, 6:30pm-8pm

The Community Development Department is hosting a pre-application Workshop for organizations interested in applying for 2018 CDBG and HOME funds.  The pre-application workshop will be held on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017, City Hall, Room 1A, 6:30-8:00pm.  Organizations will learn about eligible uses of CDBG and HOME funding, and how to apply for funds.  For more information, contact Randy Cole, Randal...@como.gov.

The City of Columbia anticipates receiving approximately $830,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $400,000 in HOME funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for 2018. These funds will be provided for CDBG and HOME eligible activities as part of the City's 2018 Annual Plan.

CDBG Funding
CDBG funding is provided in the following five categories: (1) economic development, (2) affordable housing, (3) community facilities, (4) fair housing, and (5) neighborhood needs. All CDBG funding must benefit low to moderate income households or eliminate a spot case of blight.

HOME Funding
Eligible HOME activities include: new construction for homeownership, or rental and rehabilitation for homeownership or rental. All HOME assisted housing must benefit lower income households. Staff will review project eligibility; the Community Development Commission will review criteria, application submission procedures, and project implementation requirements.

All interested applicants must submit a letter of intent by March 17, 2017 to be eligible for funds.  Full applications must be received through the on-line system by 11:59 p.m.April 28, 2017 to be considered for funding.
