The previous press release misstated the location of the public hearing--the meeting will be held in Conference Room 1A of City Hall, not Conference Room 1B. The corrected press release follows.

Each year the City of Columbia receives federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) due to its population, demographics, and federal appropriations. The City estimates it will receive approximately $830,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $400,000 in HOME funds in FY 2018. These funds primarily benefit low to moderate income households, and can be used for economic development, fair housing, community facilities, neighborhood needs, and affordable housing.

The City of Columbia Community Development Commission (CDC) will be holding a Community Development Needs Public Hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in conference room 1A at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.  The CDC holds a public hearing each year to ensure its current five year Consolidated Plan and plans for utilizing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds address the most current community development needs.  Current community development needs contained with the current 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan can be viewed here: needs, goals, and deliverables.  The CDC will take public comment regarding community development needs at the Jan. 11 public hearing and determine if recommendations for changes be brough t forward for City Council consideration.
