Community Concert at Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater
Plan to enjoy Missouri Symphony Orchestra’s prelude to Hot Summer Nights on Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at Columbia’s outdoor performing arts space in Stephens Lake Park. The event is free, and organized by Columbia Parks and Recreation; sponsored by the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs and the Missouri Arts Council.
Annual Arts Funding Application Review
Did your organization submit an arts funding application? If so, please consider attending the June 8th meeting of the Commission on Cultural Affairs, when Commissioners will be reviewing the applications. The regular meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the funding portion will not start until 5 p.m. It is open to the public and is an excellent opportunity to become familiar with the process. Applicants are encouraged to attend. While the minutes of the meeting will be available after the fact, sitting in on the meeting will prove to be much more informative as you implement your projects and formulate future proposals. Public comment does not occur at the meeting – audience members are observers only so that no organization is allowed to “testify” or lobby. The Commission meeting on July 13 will include an opportunity for organizations to make public comment.
