ART ORG UPDATES

City Arts Funding

At their meeting on July 10, the Commission on Cultural Affairs will review their recommendations for funding of local arts organizations. The meeting will be held in the community room at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road, and will start at 4:45 p.m. The public hearing portion of the meeting will not begin before 5:15 p.m. Applicants are invited to attend and address the Commission, but are not required to do so.  After the Commission acts on their recommendations, they will be forwarded to City Council for final approval. The Council Meeting will be held on August 21, 2017 and provides an additional opportunity for the public to speak prior to finalizing the funding recommendations.

Input on the Annual Arts Funding Process

A survey form requesting feedback on the funding process was sent to applicants last month. If you have not done so, please complete the survey as soon as possible so we can continue to assess and improve our funding process. Your input is important to us as it helps us to measure the clarity of the application form and the overall ease of the process.

Small Request Funding

Small Request funds for FY17 have been depleted. However, new funds will be available after the city budget for FY18 is approved by city council in September. Proposed events/activities must take place after October 1, and preferably after October 9 when the Commission will consider applications received by the due date.

The Small Request application form is available through the Foundant online application system, and it must be submitted no later than two months prior to the project’s start date (i.e., if your project begins on October 13, your application must be received by August 13). Go to http://www.como.gov/arts/funding-opportunities/small-request-funding/ for guidelines and to access the online application form.
