OFFICE OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS UPDATES:

City Arts Funding Information:

City arts funding for the FY2017 cycle will be completely online!  OCA has teamed up with Foundant Technologies to create an online application process that will be easy for applicants, administrators, and reviewers to navigate as well as eliminate cross-platform hurdles that may have been encountered in the past.  As before, the applicant must submit all required information in accordance with instructions using the online application system. A funding application workshop is being planned for mid-February. Applications must be received by May 1, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. to be considered for FY2017 funding. New applicants or those that have been zero-funded in the past are strongly encouraged to submit a draft for review.

Artist Opportunities

·   Traffic Box Art:  Open to artists residing in mid-Missouri; $1,500 honorarium, plus cost of materials; postmark or online submission deadline March 11. The prospectus and design template will be available soon.

·   Commemorative Poster:  In order to garner more entries, the Commemorative Poster contest is expanding in 2016 and will be open to any artist residing in the United States. A new focus has also been added as well, an image that specifically has some connection to the city of Columbia. One image will be selected for the Commemorative Poster design, which will also be featured on the cover of next year’s annual “City of Columbia Citizens’ Handbook”. The artist will receive a $1,500 honorarium. Additional images, approximately 7-15, will be selected as honorable mentions, and will also be included in the “City of Columbia Citizens’ Handbook”; the artists will receive a $100 honorarium per image selected.  Application will be available starting January 25, 2016. Postmark or online submission deadline is March 26, 2016.  www.gocolumbiamo.com/Arts for guidelines and application form.
