You most likely want to install a Globus Connect Server instance to serve that endpoint. You can set it up so that anyone locally authorized to sign into that machine can activate the endpoint and use it as a source to transfer to a Globus Connect Personal endpoint.

Thanks for your reply Alan!

I should have specified that the PC has win10, so Globus Connect Server is not an option...

Hi Sonia,

Does your organization have a Globus subscription? If so, one of you could create guest collection from your Globus Connect Personal endpoint that points to a shared storage area on the PC.

Hi Rick,

I wasn't aware of this option! I believe you are referring to this https://docs.globus.org/how-to/share-files/

The institute should have a subscription as we use globus to transfer data tofrom the research data store linked to the HPC.
I will contact my IT dept and ask to upgrade my account to PLus.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Rick,

On a somewhat perpendicular note, can multiple simultaneously running
Globus Connect Personals be coexisting on the same PC?

IIRC, GCP is a well behaved application (executable installs centrally,
but it keeps each user's identity and sharing information in per-user
locations in each users' respective profile directory). So
theoretically PCUserA and PCUserB could both start their own instances
of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Globus Connect Personal", login into them
with their own Globus credentials and have "UserA PC endpoint"
coexisting with "UserB PC endpoint", could they not?

Hi Lev,

I’ve seen this work on Linux systems, where multiple users are logged in at the same time. For a Windows system, I suppose it would depend on whether it supported multiple user sessions, like a Windows server doing for Remote Desktop sessions.

On a desktop or laptop, I would expect only the processes the user on the desktop to be active. My Windows desktop knowledge is extremely outdated, however, and I suspect someone else on this list may be able to fill us in.
