We released an update today to Globus Connect Server.

HIGHLIGHTS

Improvements

  • Support has been added for Ubuntu 26.04 (Resolute) and Fedora 44.

  • Streaming updates

    • Added the --run-as-local-user streaming gateway option, which allows admins to easily associate active tunnel processes with local user accounts. (doc)

    • Added --globus-contact to the globus-streams CLI which allows users to pick the hostname that they will use with their tunnel.

    • Removed the need to specify the port with the -p option to globus-streams-launch.sh.

    • Standalone release of the streaming application tools package. (doc)

    • Refactored the streaming application tools to be more robust when used with many tunnels.

    • Added streaming application tool support for reverse name lookup via getnameinfo().

  • S3 connector update to improve performance of transfers having a large number of files (released May 6).

Bug Fixes

  • Fix for failing guest collection creation and collection listing on endpoints with a large number of collections.

  • S3 connector: Fixed an issue that caused listings at the root of allowed permissions to fail with permission denied errors when bucket access is limited by S3 policies.

  • See the GCS Changelog for more information on this release and previous releases.
