šŸ’¼Ā Work-Study & CalFresh: What You Need to Know 🌿

Did you know? If you’re onĀ Work-Study, the incomeĀ does not countĀ when applying forĀ CalFresh, meaning you may be eligible for theĀ maximum benefit amount! šŸ™Œ

Here’s how to prove your Work-Study status to the county:

Step 1:Ā šŸ“ Go to theĀ UCSB Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships websiteĀ and login toĀ download your work study referral form.Ā This is different from the work study verification letter.

Step 2:Ā šŸ“‚ Turn in the form to yourĀ on-campus employer.Ā allow about 2 weeks for processing (your employer will fill out the form and have to submit to the work study advisor at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships).

Step 3:Ā āœ…Ā Follow upĀ to confirm your employer has approved the form,Ā request a copy for your records.

Step 4:Ā šŸ“„Ā Submit theĀ approved referral formĀ to the county as proof of your Work-Study income.

This simple process makes sure your Work-Study wages don’t reduce your CalFresh benefits, helping you get the support you deserve! šŸ’›

Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships Website

šŸ“žĀ How to Contact the Financial Aid Office

Need help with your financial aid? Here’s what to know:

  • ā˜Žļø TheĀ phone line can reach capacity,Ā once it does, you won’t be able to join the queue.

  • 🚶 Going in personĀ is theĀ fastest way to get answersĀ if you’re waiting on something urgent.

  • šŸ“§ Email response times areĀ slower right now, so again, visiting in person is best.

šŸ’øĀ Scholarships are still being addedĀ to award packages, so they may not appear on your award letter yet.Ā Don’t worry, updates are still happening!Ā šŸ’ø
