| Hi Global majors, See below for options to study Arabic (great for the foreign language requirement, 6 quarters for Prep Area II or 3 quarters for Prep Area III)! |
Dear Meghan,
My name is Wael Hegazy, and I am a Lecturer in Arabic in the Department of Religious Studies at UCSB, where I teach the Arabic language sequence and work with students interested in Arabic language and culture.
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to briefly share information about the Arabic language program we offer through the Department of Religious Studies at UCSB.
We offer a two-year Arabic language sequence (Arabic 1–6 / RG ST 10A–10F) that introduces students to Modern Standard Arabic while also incorporating colloquial Arabic, cultural materials, and communication skills. Students who complete the sequence are also eligible to receive the UCSB Arabic Language Certificate.
Since you work closely with undergraduate students in Global Studies, I thought some students interested in global affairs, migration, the Middle East, and international studies may find Arabic especially valuable for their academic and professional interests. I would greatly appreciate it if you could help spread the word among students who may be interested in studying Arabic.
I have attached the flyer with the program information.
Thank you very much for your time and support.
Best regards,
Wael Hegazy
