Hello Colleagues,

 

I hope this email finds you well! My name is Jocelyn Sandoval, and I am HCOP’s Program Manager (Health Careers Opportunity Program) within the College of Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU). I wanted to share an exciting pre-health summer 2025 opportunity with you and your students.

 

CDU is currently accepting applications for our 2^nd cohort of the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Summer Institute. The Summer Institute is a supportive 6-week summer program that provides students interested in pursuing a health career in medicine (pre-med or pre-PA) with the skills and resources to strengthen their preparedness for entering the medical profession.

 

Some highlights of the Summer Institute are:

 

- Case management including career navigation

- Workshops in health disparities, health policy, mental health, imposter syndrome, and other skills to thrive in health professional school

- Medical and Physician Assistant (PA) school application/admission support through interaction with CDU College of Medicine, PA, and community psychology programs

- Mentorship and professional development with experienced health professionals

- Exposure to clinical skills through street medicine, virtual case studies and alternative approaches to trauma care

- Additional financial support for MCAT/GRE prep

- $1800 Stipend

 

The deadline to apply is January 22, 2025.
