To: <jayst...@ucsb.edu>

Dear Advisers, Counselors, and Peers,

Hello. My name is Jay Stemmle, and I am a student academic specialist at UCSB's Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS). I am contacting you, perhaps once again, to inform you about CLAS’s academic skills services.

In fall 2025, UCSB undergraduates can attend any or all of ten different workshops on the following academic skills subjects:

·         time management

·         study planning

·         learning from lecture

·         reading efficiency

·         test readiness

·         focus

·         fighting procrastination

·         confronting confusion

·         motivation

·         academic confidence.

In addition, CLAS academic skills specialists have appointment times available most weekdays to work with your students one-on-one on any of these topics.

Students can save their spots in workshops or can schedule appointments for individual consultations by going to myclas.sa.ucsb.edu, clicking "my appointments" or “my workshops,” and then clicking "academic skills." Students can attend unlimited workshops and can schedule up to two, thirty-minute, in-person or Zoom appointments every week. Attached, you will find a flier with the complete schedule of this quarter’s workshops. I have also included a handout called “My CLAS Checklist” that has a complete list of all CLAS services by subject and tutoring type. You may want to use this checklist to help you refer your students to the precise kind of help that they need.

If you have any questions, concerns, complaints, or ideas about this CLAS service or about any other CLAS offering, please be in touch.

Best,

Jay (they/she)

CLAS Student Academic Specialist
