How is housing affecting your time at UCSB?

Whether it's the cost of rent, your living conditions, a long commute, or the stress of finding a place to live, housing shapes so much of the college experience. The Blum Center on Poverty, Inequality, & Democracy at UC Santa Barbara is conducting a research study to understand how, and they need to hear from undergraduate students like you.

What's Involved:

  • A confidential online survey (approximately 20 minutes)

  • Complete it on your phone or computer, at your convenience

  • Receive a $20 digital gift card upon completion (anticipate gift cards will be emailed in 3-5 weeks)

Who Can Participate:

  • Currently enrolled UCSB undergraduate students, 18 years or older

Your responses are completely confidential and will not be linked to your identity. Participation is voluntary, and you may skip any question or stop at any time.

First-Gen College Student Survey

Are you the first in your family to attend a four-year university in the United States? If so, participate in a study to better understand the experiences, needs and strengths of  first-generation college students at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Your feedback will be used to help improve resources and support for students like you.At the end of the survey, participants also have the option of signing up for a follow-up focus group interview.

Eligible if you identify as a first-generation college student (meaning your parents or guardians have not earned a four-year college degree in the United States; even if your siblings have earned a four-year degree, you are still considered a first-gen college student).

What is involved?

  • The Task: A brief online survey.

  • Time: Approximately 10-15 minutes.

  • Privacy: Your responses are completely anonymous.

Aside from helping us build a better campus community for first-generation college students, you will have the chance to be part of a drawing for one of twenty $10 Amazon gift cards upon completion of the survey.
