Dear Students,

We are offering a new course this Spring 2026 under the (placeholder) course number LING 194! LING 194 will be taught by Professor Matthew Gordon on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30pm-1:45pm.

A few seats are still available:

LING 194: Phonetics and Phonology of Speech Disorders

This course will examine phonetic and phonological features of a variety of speech disorders affecting both child and adult populations. Clinical manifestations in the acoustic, articulatory, perceptual, and cognitive domains will be considered with reference to normative baselines at different developmental stages.

  • Prerequisite: LING 20
  • 4 units
  • Appropriate for Area F of the SLDS major or minor.
    • This is not an automatic application -- you must email us with your perm# once enrolled if you would this to apply towards your SLDS major.
Best,
