Subject: Help Needed from the Global Studies department - International Student Orientation Feedback
To: Meghan Zero <megha...@global.ucsb.edu>

Hello,

I hope this email finds you well, I am Sophie Lok, Project Officer of A.S. Global Gaucho Commission.

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and the A.S. Global Gaucho Commission is working with UCSB Orientation Programs to improve the orientation experience for international students, and would like to collect student feedback on current orientation modules.
We are hoping to collect student feedback through the survey (linked here) to let us know how the orientation could be improved!

Here is some additional information regarding the aim and mission of this survey:

The international student orientation program is different from the orientation available to local students, and it has long been our goal to advocate for equal access to orientation resources. Mainly, the majority of international students are unable to attend orientation in person due to in-person orientation being run from late June until the end of July. The online program that is offered to international students also features content that is different from the regular orientation, which students have reported is not the most helpful. Therefore, student feedback on the effectiveness of international student orientation is highly valued, and will contribute to making UCSB a more equitable and welcoming space.

Students are also welcome to contact us directly to share and discuss their thoughts. Please email A.S. GGC Chair Suyan Wang at ggcc...@as.ucsb.edu
If students would like a reminder of what the orientation program involved, they may refer to the Orientation Programs website (linked here).

We would greatly appreciate your help, thank you very much!

Best,

Sophie Lok (she/her)
