Dear Students,

Knowing how to understand, analyze, and communicate data is an increasingly valuable skill in today’s landscape.

COMM 187: Data Science for Communication is a beginner-friendly course where you’ll learn how to work with real-world data using Python, create compelling visualizations, and tell meaningful stories with data. We’ll also explore data ethics and the social impact of technology. No programming experience is required!

Worried about your grade?! Don’t be. Students COMPLETELY new to coding have done extremely well in this class.

COMM 187 is offered this upcoming Spring 2026. Fill out this google form for the chance to enroll.

Details:
📅 Thursdays, 5:00–7:20 PM
📍 Classroom: ELLSN 2617
⚠️ Limited seats, fill out the google form ASAP! We will provide add codes on a first come, first serve basis.

Bonuses:

  • Learn to create cool data visualizations like those on the New York Times and Pew Research
  • Past students have gone on to top master’s programs (Johns Hopkins, USC, and more
  • Taught by the beloved Dr. Pandey in the COMM department, you will not want to miss out. If you’ve been curious about data science, this is a great place to start.
