CalFresh, Graduation, and Summer
Important Things To Keep In Mind For Calfresh This Summer
Are you graduating from UCSB and have Calfresh? Are you studying abroad this summer and have Calfresh? If you answered "yes," to either of these questions, here are some things to consider.
CalFresh and Graduating
- Don't have a job after graduation? Consider keeping your Calfresh benefits after graduation! As long as you continue to be under the income threshold, you can still keep your Calfresh benefits!
- Moving out of Santa Barbara County after graduation and want to keep your benefits? Transfer your benefits to the new county you moved to! To transfer your benefits, call Santa Barbara County and request an intercounty transfer.
- Want to cancel your benefits? Call Santa Barbara County to cancel your benefits.
Summer and CalFresh
Graduates from UCSB can keep their CalFresh benefits by updating the county about their student status and ensuring they meet the income threshold. Students going home for the summer can continue using their benefits in their home county. For recertification or SAR7 issues, students can book virtual appointments with CalFresh Advocates through basicneeds.ucsb.edu. If benefits are discontinued or if there are changes in income, students should report these changes through benefitscal.com and seek virtual assistance if needed. Work-study jobs don't need to be reported during the summer, but students must inform the county that they are still meeting a student exemption.
Have more questions? Visit the Food Security and Basic Needs Advising Center inside of the UCEN or book an appointment online with a Calfresh Advocate or email us at basic...@sa.ucsb.edu
