Dear Students,

We have open spots in LING 115: Introduction to Historical Comparative Linguistics! Meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30-10:45am.

LING 115 explores the origins of languages and their historical development. Some of the many questions to be addressed in the class include the following:

• Which languages of the world are related to each other and how do we know they are?

• How do languages evolve over time?

• What happens when different languages come into contact with each other?

• What are the different types of writing systems found in languages of the world?

LING 115 satisfies a requirement for several Linguistics major programs and is an elective for all Linguistics programs.

  • Prereq: LING 107 -- the instructor will waive this prerequisite if you have taken at least LING 20.
    • Interested? Please reply with your perm#!
