Good morning! I hope this email finds you well,
My name is Salomé Achury and I am the incoming Judicial Council Chair for the 26-27 school year. Judicial Council serves as the judiciary branch of UCSB’s Associated Students government. We receive petitions from our student body, interpret UCSB’s Legal Code in order to deliver decisions on said petitions, and provide legal guidance for the Senate.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could forward this to your department email list to reach any students who may be interested! Judicial Council is an excellent leadership opportunity for legal and professional development, as well as a way to get involved with AS!
Thank you very much for your time and consideration!
Warmly,
Salomè Achury

Are you interested in legal rhetoric, interpretation, and decision making? Looking to develop your professional and leadership experience? Apply to UCSB’S AS Judicial Council, and become a Member-At-Large for our student government’s judicial branch!
AS Judicial Council serves as the judiciary branch of the AS student government. We function similarly to the U.S. Supreme Court, where we receive petitions from our student body on Legal Code contentions, and interpret said legal code to deliver our decisions. We practice legal writing and analysis, and additionally provide legislative guidance for the Senate when requested.
AS Judicial Council consists of five (5) total members, constructed of three (3) councilmembers, one Vice Chair, and one Chair. We are currently looking to fill our three (3) open councilmember positions!
