Dear Department Advisor,
I hope you are doing well. I am an undergraduate researcher working with Dr. Nils Reimer at UCSB’s Social Injustice and Social Change lab.
We are currently conducting a IRB-approved study examining undergraduate and graduate students’ responses to a potential upcoming labor strike. Participation is voluntary and involves completing a series of short surveys.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could help advertise this study to undergraduate students in your department by sharing the study information via email, newsletter, or any other appropriate communication channel.
Below is an email blast draft and related attachments.
Thank you very much for your time and support. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Best wishes,
Anna Walsh

Subject: Invitation to UCSB Research Study
The Social Injustice and Social Change lab at UCSB is looking for participants for a research study on understanding responses to a potential upcoming labor strike. Results from this study helps us understand how UCSB students think and feel about the strike.
This study consists of three components: a pre-survey (15 mins), a post-survey (15 mins), and weekly surveys (5 mins) in between. Participants will be paid $4 each for completing the pre-survey and the post-survey, and $2 for every weekly survey you complete. If participants complete 80% of all weekly surveys, they will also receive a 50% bonus. This means that if the strike only happened for one week and you completed the pre-strike survey, post-strike survey, and the one weekly survey, you will receive $(4+4+8)*1.5 = $24. This study is approved by the ethics board, and the informed consent is attached for your information.
Participants need to be at least 18 years old and a student at UCSB in Winter quarter 2026.
