The Eurovision Song Contest began on May 9. Long-time readers know of my deep deep love of this silly and wonderful affair. If you aren't familiar, I highly commend it to your attention.

US Congress – Republic of Korea National Assembly Exchange Program
The US Congress-Republic of Korea National Assembly Exchange Program seeks to broaden the perspectives of Korean and American young people on the bilateral relationship. Applicants for the US delegation must be US citizens between the ages of 21-27 who have a demonstrated interest in the US government, US foreign policy, and/or US-Korean relations with a minimum of two academic years at an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The Committee on Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Unification of the Republic of Korea National Assembly selects the Korean students. Participation is fully funded including domestic flights to and from the delegates’ hometowns, international flights to and from Korea, and hotels, meals, local transportation while in DC, and all program-related costs while in Korea. Note: this program is *not* geared toward US applicants who have already had significant opportunities to travel or live in Korea. MEXT Scholarships for Study in Japan
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to non-Japanese students who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate students under the MEXT Scholarship Program. Applicants must have the nationality of any country that has diplomatic relations with Japan, be 18 years of age or older, be willing to learn Japanese, be willing to deepen their understanding of Japan before and after arriving in Japan, and have completed 12 years of pre-university schooling in countries *other than* Japan. Robert Schuman Essay Competition
The European People's Party Group invites EU nationals to submit essays on the question “What are your ideas in regard to raising the engagement of young people in Europe?" Winners receive a 5-month paid traineeship in Brussels. Deadline: June 12, 2023 https://www.epp4youth.eu/essay-competition/


CBCF Fellowships
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation offers a semester-long Emerging Leaders Internship Program to create a corps of trained, young leaders with the skills, outlook, and contacts necessary to generate and sustain positive change in DC and their communities. This program will take place in person from Monday, August 28-December 15, 2023. Interns receive housing and a $4,000 stipend. Interns will be placed in various congressional offices, committees, subcommittees, or federal agencies. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, be at least a college senior by the program start date, have a permit to work in the US, and have a demonstrated interest in public service, governance, and the policy-making process. HKS Public Policy Leadership Conference
The 23rd annual Public Policy Leadership Conference will be held October 12-15, 2023 on the Harvard Kennedy School campus in Cambridge, MA. PPLC inspires undergraduates to pursue careers in public service. Attendees learn what it is to study policy in a graduate school environment and have opportunities to connect with current HKS students, faculty, and staff, as well as fellow high-achieving undergraduate students. Applicants should have completed at least 2 academic semesters and be currently enrolled in a two- or four-year US institution, be a US citizen, permanent resident, DACA recipient, or non-citizen US national, have a 3.0+ GPA, and demonstrate an abiding commitment to public service. Café Bustelo El Café Del Futuro Scholarship
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities partnered with Café Bustelo to offer $5,000 scholarships to students. Applicants must be full-time undergraduates, enrolled at a four-year HACU members within the US or Puerto Rico. Open to all majors with a Cumulative GPA of 3.0+. Open to U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, those Legally Authorized to Work in the US, and Others. Deadline: July 3, 2023 https://www.hacu.net/hacu/Scholarships.asp


EHLS Scholarship Program for Native Speakers of Critical Languages
Native speakers of critical languages are in high demand in the US government. EHLS trains candidates to be effective communicators and strong candidates for federal jobs. All EHLS participants receive a full scholarship from the National Security Education Program that includes tuition and a living stipend. Applicants must be US Citizens who are native speakers of Arabic, Azerbaijani, Balochi, Bambara, Dari, Hausa, Hindi, Kazakh, Korean, Kurdish, Kyrgyz, Mandarin Chinese, Pashto, Persian Farsi, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Tajik, Tamashek, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, Uzbek, or Vietnamese with English language skills at level 2 or higher on the ILR scale.
