The Ina Coolbrith Memorial Poetry Prize 2025-26

Due: Mon December 8, 2025 (UCSB deadline)

a multi-campus contest for unpublished undergraduate poetry

Award: $100-$500

For: the best unpublished poem or group of poems submitted by any undergraduate student of the University of California campuses, Mills College, Stanford University, Santa Clara University, and St. Mary's College.

UC Santa Barbara contestants must submit here. For other campuses, see your own campus announcement.

Each campus will select up to three finalists and forward them to the multi-campus contest. Winning manuscripts are filed in the University Archives at the Bancroft Library on the UC Berkeley campus.

The Ina Coolbrith Memorial Poetry Prize was established in 1933 in memory of former Poet Laureate of the State of California. More information on the contest can be found on the UC Berkeley website under the Ina Coolbrith prize listing and Current Contests.
