Dear Campus Community,

The IHC's Research Focus Group for Global Childhood Media is excited to welcome Dr. Yasmine Motawy, who will be presenting “Domesticating the Future: Egyptian Children's Publishing, Generation Z, and the Neoliberal Ideology of the New Wave." Her work will will examine the Egyptian child reader as a historically produced subject shaped by two decades of neoliberal transformation, focusing on how picturebooks socialize children into neoliberal spaces and translate broader political-economic shifts.

She was awarded the  AUC’s Excellence in Research and Creative Endeavors Award in 2022, co-edited the foundational Routledge Companion to International Children’s Literature in 2018, serves on the board of the International Research Society of Children's Literature, and just released her latest book, Children's Picture Books and COntemporary Egyptian Society in 2025.

The talk which will take place at 10 am on Tuesday, February 3rd via Zoom at the following link: bit.ly/GCM-IHC
