Global majors!!! Use those hard-won foreign language skills to help translate immigration law materials (a variety of languages needed!) Great opportunity for anyone with second (or third!) language skills and especially those that may want to work in the legal field someday!

Good Afternoon and Happy Thursday,

My name is Adrian Pachon, and I am a managing attorney with Immigrant Defenders Law Center, a southern California based non-profit legal service provider. I am also a UCSB alum (class of 2011).

We are in search of volunteers who would be able to assist in translation of resource materials for non-English speaking community members. The free materials on our website are aimed at providing community members with information on the immigration legal system and their rights, along with additional resources that may be available to them.

We currently already have materials in Spanish and are looking to have information translated to the following languages: Indigenous Mayan, Arabic, Russian, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin,  French, and Haitian Creole. However, we are always open to volunteers (professors or grad students) who have strong skills in other languages to assist in translating these materials.

Please advise if you would be able to share this request with faculty or students, and if you are aware of other individuals outside of UCSB who may be interested in volunteering for this type of work.

Feel free to call or text my direct line or you can email me. Thank you very much in advance for your consideration of this request.
