Full Description: The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a 501(c)3 grantmaking foundation that receives an annual Congressional appropriation in excess of $310 million and is governed by a private, bipartisan Board of Directors. This unusual arrangement positions NED to play a unique role as America’s leading foundation for freedom, empowering the institution to be nimble, innovative, and risk-taking in support of democratic activists, civil society organizations, independent media, and the NED family core institutes (the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute, the Center for International Private Enterprise, and the Solidarity Center).

We seek a motivated, energetic, organized, and resourceful Program Assistant, Global who is a mission-oriented team player, and who would be excited to join a fast-paced Global programs team. This position is based in Washington, D.C.

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative and programmatic support to the Global program staff. Responsibilities:

· Assist the Global team with general administrative duties.

· Assist with intake, processing, and distribution of grant proposals.

· Maintain the team calendar, schedule internal meetings, and monitor deadlines.

· Maintain and track internal budgets and generate data for team planning purposes.

· Help to organize events and meetings.

· Respond to general inquiries regarding the proposal process.

· Attend and report on relevant meetings and other events.

· Conduct research on current political developments, as needed.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, History, or a related discipline is required;

· Minimum of 1 year of work experience in an office environment;

· Administrative support experience;

· Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.

· Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of democracy and human rights as well as civil society issues;

· Experience studying and/or working abroad is desirable;

· Experience working with databases and analyzing statistics;

· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;

· Attention to detail and ability to multi-task;

· High degree of organization and initiative;

· Works well in a team environment.

· Authorized to work in the United States.

This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.

Located in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this role is $ 45,500 – 60,625 USD, plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.
