The Library Makerspace is open! The Makerspace is a unique interdisciplinary learning environment that provides an expansive assortment of unconventional learning tools. 

You can register for the Makerspace as a Canvas course!

June Temporary Housing

If you are looking for a place to stay in between leases or university housing contracts, then it is highly recommended that you look into UCSB Conference & Hospitality Services’ June Temporary Housing! The housing is available from June 15th - July 2nd.

Summer Access Grant

UCSB is offering a Summer Access Grant (previously known as the housing incentive) during Summer 2024. This incentive credits eligible students enrolled in 12 units or more with up to $1000 to offset summer housing expenses, on and off campus!

Additional requirements include:

1. Being UCSB Scholarship Eligible
2. Being California Resident or AB540 Eligible 

The application is now open until June 1st! If you do not know if you will be taking 12 units over summer you can still apply in case you do as the grant is given out on a first come first serve basis.

If you have questions about this grant stop by the Food Security and Basic Needs Advising Center in the UCen!

IV Parking Focus Group and Town Hall

The Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD) has been gathering data and community feedback to develop potential solutions aimed at alleviating the persistent parking challenges that have impacted our community for far too long. They are starting the second round of focus groups, and they need UCSB & SBCC students' valuable input.

Join them on Thursday, May 16th from 5:30pm-6:30pm (TODAY) at the Isla Vista Community Room to review these proposed solutions and share your feedback.

RSVP below and get entered into a raffle to win a 20 dollar Caje gift card! You also get volunteer hours for your participation!
 

Fix-It Fair
Mark the day! The Fix-Fair is back this Friday, May, 5/19 from 1-4pm. Fix-It Fair is a volunteer-driven community event aimed at reducing waste in our landfills by promoting the repair and reuse of items, rather than their replacement.

Celebrate APIDA Heritage Month with Health & Wellness in collaboration with Edible Campus Program and COSWB at their Garden Party! Come plant Asian vegetables, make jeow som, and learn about the history of the APIDA farming!

In an effort to reduce the amount of waste produced in IV during move-out🗑️, IVCSD is organizing a community-wide yard sale! Now is the time to start thoughtfully minimizing your belongings to avoid throwing things away in June!

Natural Dyes Workshop

Learn how to extract natural dyes from fruit seeds, vegetable skins, and flowers in this workshop by Edible Campus! They will provide supplies but you can also bring your own fabrics and things you wish to dye. Anything from socks, yarn, hats will work, as long as it is a natural fiber like cotton and linen since they tend to work best. They will have pizza and snacks so bring your friends for a night out!

Ideal for anyone looking to reduce waste and grow their own food, regardless of space constraints.

Are you ready to celebrate springtime? Interested in learning about sustainability and environmental organizations on campus? Basic Needs Advising Center Hours

The Basic Needs Advising Center is a hub for all your basic needs questions. The Basic Needs Office is located in the UCen. You can stop by any timeduring open hours without an appointment to ask questions or get help applying for CalFresh.

AS Food Bank Hours

The AS Food Bank is located in the UCen at the back of the food court on the second floor. You can go anytime they are open to pick up groceries. Be sure to bring your access card! You can also order online for mobile order pick-up here.

Miramar Pantry Hours 

The Miramar Pantry is located in the Sierra Madre Villages in student housing. You can go any time they are open to pick up groceries. The pantry has a unique assortment of food because they also have refrigerators to store perishables.

Health and Wellness Center Hours

The Health and Wellness Center has a unique assortment of services available to students. They have tea, quiet places to study, weekly meditation, and weekly massages! They are located on the first floor of the Student Resource Building. 

Career Services Hours

Career Services hosts many events and job fairs. Visit their physical location for help with job finding and resume building!

Jicama Citrus Salad

Try out this super easy and refreshing Jicama Citrus Salad!

Ingredients:

  • 8 Tangerines, Peeled and Sliced
  • 1 Pound Medium Jicama, Peeled and Cubed
  • 2 TBSP Lemon or Lime Juice
  • 1/4 Cupped Fresh Chopped Cilantro
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste


Directions:

  1. Just mix everything in a bowl and done! Chill until ready to eat!
