Hi Meghan,
I hope you’re well. My name is Erin McGeoy, and I’m the Volunteer Coordinator for
Give & Surf, a community-based nonprofit in Bocas del Toro, Panama. We serve over 1,000 children each year through education and youth development rooted in community partnership.
I’m reaching out because we offer 4–12 week experiential learning and internship opportunities that seem very aligned with the interests of Global Studies students. These programs combine:
-
community development & grassroots engagement
-
Spanish language immersion
-
youth education & after-school initiatives
-
environmental and coastal conservation work
-
cross-cultural learning with Afro-Caribbean and Indigenous Ngäbe communities
I’ll be back in Santa Barbara on December 18 and 19, and if you’re available, I’d love to stop by UCSB and share more about how these opportunities might support Global Studies majors — whether for field experience, independent study, or post-graduation
pathways.
Thank you so much for your time, and please let me know if a brief meeting would be possible.
Warmly,
Erin McGeoy
