Hey, guys.
I'm currently using Nexus OSS to expose a Maven repository to our clients.
I know that branding is only available in PRO.
But I would like to know if there's some way of customizing the welcome screen. More specifically, the /service/outreach/ endpoint.
The Nexus OSS makes a huge banner when there's an available upgrade.
I work in a small company that doesn't have enough resources to keep Nexus updated in a reasonable frequence.
I know this is a security issue, but that banner of a "new version available" makes it worse.

So, that's why I want to change the Welcome page.

Thanks for your time.

You can disable the welcome screen from displaying content. To do that go to "system/capabilities" in the admin UI, locate the "outreach: management" capability, and disable it.

Thanks.
That worked. But once I disabled it, I realized the top banner also displays version information.
Would there be a way of disabling it also?

Thanks!

Thiago,

Would you mind heading over to issues.sonatype.org and filing an Improvement under the NEXUS project? We'll make it public so others can vote on it.

Thiago,

Do you happen to be running Nexus in a docker container? If so, have you considered using a script like this one to help you keep your Nexus up-to-date?

I actually don't know, since it wasn't me who started this server (it was me who asked our infrastructure team to do so, though).
But I would say the team who did that didn't use Docker, since their Docker knowledge is too small.

Does Nexus support upgrade by simply change it's container?

Yes, it does, that's exactly what the linked script does. Just make sure you keep your data out of that container. That script assumes you will use docker volume to store your Nexus' data, but in case you haven't set it like that yet it will created a new docker volume for you, but unfortunately your initial data will be lost in that scenario, so please make sure you've got a backup.
