Hi,

I installed Nexus 3.0 and was not able to delete artifacts using the "Remove snapshots from Maven repository task".
The memory usage went up and I got a out of memory error.
See:
https://groups.google.com/a/glists.sonatype.com/d/topic/nexus-users/Q8w6QdtIMKI/discussion

Now I have upgraded to 3.1 since it contains a fix that might be related to this:
https://issues.sonatype.org/browse/NEXUS-11254

BUT it does not solve the problem.
I just tried to run a "Remove snapshots from Maven repository task" for about 10 hours.
The CPU usage was maxed out and Nexus used 2 Gb memory. No artifacts were removed.

Same thing happens when I browse or search my repository. Total meltdown.

I'm becoming a bit desparate since the repository just grows and grows and I don't know how to remove old artifacts in any other way.
(I can't delete every artifact one by one by browsing to them.)

Please help.

Info about my setup:

I have one blob store: Type: File, Blob count: 186647, Total size: 10.8 Gb, Available space: 62.4 Gb
Nexus runs in a dedicated virtual Centos 7 machine with 4 Gb RAM.

Regards
Gösta

If someone is interested in this:

This is a known bug and will be fixed in 3.2 as it looks right now.

Hi Gösta,
First off, sorry you're having problems with this task, we are aware of some issues and are working on it right now. If you're able/willing, it would be helpful to have a support zip of your Nexus instance while these issues are occurring to better inform us what's going on in your particular scenario. If you can, please attach the zip to the https://issues.sonatype.org/browse/NEXUS-11614 ticket and we'll take a look.

Thanks!

If you prefer a more private place to send the support zip, just send it to sup...@sonatype.com and we'll make sure it reaches Kelly.

Hi Peter,

thanks for the help but I believe Kelly got the support zip and other logs.

In the meantime, do you know of a workaround to delete artifacts (other than deleting them one by one in the GUI) when the task fails?

Regards,
Gösta
