Hi,

I created an hosted pypi repository and I am trying to upload some Python packages into it, but I always get this error:

I tried uploading different formats (source, wheel) using setuptools or twine, I tried using http and https, I always get the same error.

Any idea what happens here ?

We need to see more information.

Please file an issue at https://issues.sonatype.org in the NEXUS project. Reproduce the problem and generate and upload a support zip bundle from Nexus to your created issue. Including as much client setup information/logs as possible would also be handy.

You may also want to examine your .pypirc configuration as the stack trace you've posted looks like you're trying to upload to the /pypi endpoint that exposes the RPC functionality for things like search (that's why search is mentioned in the stack trace, as it's trying to parse your upload as an XML search request) rather than the base endpoint.

In your .pypirc file, you should probably look at the [nexus] (or similar) section and see what you have for the repository url. Specifically, I'm going to guess that you may have something that looks similar to http://localhost:8081/repository/pypi-hosted/pypi/, but what you really want is something more like http://localhost:8081/repository/pypi-hosted/. Note that for real-world use you'll likely want to be using https, but I'm skipping that part for now in case that makes it easier to diagnose. We'd also recommend using Twine to try that as that's typically the focus of our compatibility efforts.

If that fixes it, please let us know. If it doesn't resolve your issue, follow Peter's directions about opening an issue with us and provide the information he requested.

Hi Frederick,

This was the issue indeed, it now works using twine, with the correct URL. Also, the trailing slash is mandatory or the repository will return 400 (Invalid repository path for url), this is what got me confused in the first place.
