Are there any mechanisms in Nexus 2 or 3 OSS allowing to limit the size of the repository?

The answer is no. However the term 'size' can mean actual bytes on disk or number of components or something else. If you need something like this, please be very specific about why and how and file an improvement request at https://issues.sonatype.org in the NEXUS product.

I meaned actual bytes on disk.
