It's a new dawn for Geodashing, new areas to explore after moving for the second time in 5 years (to New Hampshire) and new llamas to meet. My youngest Markwell offspring first went with me on a Geodashing adventure when he was just under the age of 2 in September of 2001 in Coal City, Illinois. During the first iteration of the game, he accompanied me on 208 out of the 455 hunts I attempted (just under half). The two of us piled into the car with Howie, our newest corgi and headed out the 20.2 miles (32.52 KM) almost due south to hit what I thought would be a drive-by. Along the way, we saw many of the typical sites of New Hampshire, which is quite a change from the flat plains of Illinois: rolling hills, winding back roads and rock walls. LOTS of rock walls.
From my recon, I knew the dashpoint would be in Wakeda Campground just south of Exeter, NH, and should be reachable by car, but as we turned on to "Main Road" (which was evidently so named as the "main road of the campground", not your typical "Main Street"), we were greeted with an insurmountable barrier. Signs stating "Stop. Do not enter. Work in Progress. No Walkers, No Visitors. Campers call ***-***-**** prior to entry." We were stymied a full 1,383 meters from our goal due to bad timing.
So I guess this just echos my luck of my first attempted dashpoint in June of 2001. Twenty-five years later, and I still didn't get my first point.
