Hello birders!

Just a quick update about the Limpkin that was found in Lewiston in November, which was rescued and transported to Delaware after receiving care from wildlife rehabilitator, Karen Slote. On Thanksgiving Day, the Limpkin was released at Francis Marion National Forest in South Carolina. As soon as the carrier door was opened, the Limpkin flew strongly out and into the swamp. Let’s hope it finds good feeding areas and connects with a mate in the spring.

Here is a brief video that Karen posted: https://youtu.be/mlOKQT0q9fI

Good birding!

Willie

Willie:  Thank you ever so much for keeping us posted.  This is such a wonderful story , it would make a great children's book.  Bless the hearts of all those involved in this rescue and release.   Supports my belief that most human beings are good, loving, caring beings.

Thank you for the updates you have provided Willie. I am so happy to see this bird free in a place where it can thrive. Everyone who mourned for the anhinga was rooting for this limpkin, didn’t want to see that happen again. Thank you to everyone who played a part in this. Amazing people doing amazing work, showing that this can be done! Warms my heart!
