Friends of mine who live in the 5000 area of West Lake Rd. told me there still lots of ducks on the lake and they all seemed to be infant of their house. I went down there yesterday and indeed there were lots of ducks in that stretch of the road, south of Long Point - my estimate of 3000+, mostly Rdheads, as expected but many others mixed in: Good numbers of Ruddy Ducks and Greater Scaup, both more than eBird wanted to accept, but of which have been well represented on the lake this year. A few other good numbers; 52 Common Goldeneyes off Blue Heron Drive, 85 Common mergansers at the south end small boat launch, and 26 Tundra Swans south from Vitale Park.

Locally, in Geneseo, there was a Merlin perched for a while yesterday morning near University Drive and Main St. While I was watching it a Pileated Woodpecker flew right by it. We’ve had our first Red-winged Blackbird at our feeders the last three days.
