Weather:Partly sunny and very warm with moderate southerly winds to start. A
northeast lake breeze hit hard around 8:40am EST. We moved to Frisbee Hill
just after 9am EST. It remained mostly sunny with a light to moderate
northeast lake breeze the rest of the day. Clouds and rain approaching from
the south at the end of the count.
Raptor Observations:An excellent flight of Broad-winged Hawks from the platform to start the
day. After the lake breeze hit the flight line shifted inland, but stayed
at least partly in sight for most of the day from Frisbee Hill, resulting
in a total of nearly 2,500 broad-wings (mostly juveniles). Most were scope
distance further inland, some were out towards the parkway and a small
number were overhead. Other notable totals included 40 Bald Eagles, 23
Sharp-shinned Hawks, and 2 Peregrine Falcons.
