Weather:Fog delayed the start a few hours. Count held from Frisbee Hill. The fog
burned off and it became increasingly sunny with a light to moderate
northeast lake breeze. Quite warm by the afternoon.
Raptor Observations:A steady flight once the sun came out. The highlight was a sub-adult
MISSISSIPPI KITE that migrated past around 12:30pm EST with the main
Broad-winged Hawk flight line over the parking area. A steady flow of
Turkey Vultures with 243 for the day. Small groups of Broad-winged Hawks
especially for the first few hours of the flight with 231 total. A few
dozen Bald Eagles. Small numbers of other expected migrants including a
harrier, a sharpie, a kestrel, and 2 Merlins.
The flight was relatively low and was mostly towards the parkway side, with
a secondary flight line overhead or further inland. Other observers
reported a vulture flight line closer to the lake shore that included a
Black Vulture, but we never saw it from Frisbee Hill.
